A less-structured area of the gardens
Fort Anne National Historic Site
The site now known as Fort Anne National Historic Site has was first fortified in 1629 by Scottish settlers. French and English have occupied it since. It was Canada’s first national historic site. Its museum includes a tapestry, 18 by 8 feet, depicting 400 years of Fort Anne’s history.
This horrible photo from the site shows the layout of Fort Anne.
Around Town
Two other scenes in Annapolis Royal struck us:
A Tankook whaler, under construction. These double-ended work boats developed in Nova Scotia around 1860. And
the Annapolis Royal lighthouse
