Having us around may not have been relaxing for our hosts, Jane’s brother Jon and sister-in-law Nancy, but we had just enough activity and a wonderful visit.

Jon’s daughters Crystal and Nikki and their families joined us for fun and Mexican food.

Nikki’s husband Justin with daughter Alyissa.  Nikki and Justin’s daughter Marley is the photobomber.

Nikki and Justin’s children Colton and Marley, demonstrating how well Jon has taught them to pose for goofy pictures.

We also were introduced to Jon’s racing drone–it’s fast and he’s the best racing drone pilot we’ve ever seen.  But, because it’s fast and he’s excellent, photos were not practical.  Trust us.  And we won’t mention the landing where Dave saw something blue fall off.  (Knowing Jon’s skill, Dave is convinced the less-than-smooth landing was the result of UFO intereference.) Everything looked fine so we went on our merry ways.  Two nights later, Jon invited us to a find-the-GoPro party.  At dusk.  In the rain.  In a large field.  Dave won, finding the missing blue camera before any of us (except Jon who didn’t have an umbrella) were soaked.

One morning we were exploring Civil War markers and found ourselves just a few blocks from Jane and Jon’s first house.  Here’s a picture of Jane on the porch step, about 1955.

And one of Jane and Jon in front of the property, some 60 years later.

Jane owes a HUGE thank you to Jon for helping her acquire and for installing a new hard drive in her computer so that she can store several generations’s worth of scanned photos.

Two Chattanooga-area excursions, Chickamauga Battlefield and the Chief Vann House, deserve their own blog entries.

Thanks again to Jon and Nancy for a wonderful time!
