Dave’s geocaching explorations led him to discover this railroad bridge over the St. Mary’s River near Decatur.  It was part of the system that moved trains from New York to Chicago.  It was built as a single track; the second track is thought to have been added in 1915.  Many railroads have owned the line through the years.  One of the most recent, before the line was last used in 1979, was the Erie Lackawanna.

One of the tracks has been allowed to deteriorate.

The other track is part of a trail system through the area.
