A little bit of Lake Powell is showing in the center of this picture. Our RV is on the left.

We were a little disappointed to find that no boats were available for rent and that no tours were being offered because of COVID, but we had a pleasant day making discoveries as we sought geocaches. On a future visit, we’ll be sure to book water transportation well in advance.

Houseboats anchored in Lake Powell near the marina.
We found this flute player when one set of caches in an Adventure Lab took us back to the scenic overlook we had visited yesterday.
In cross-bedded sandstone, layers end up at varying angles.
This dam (today with more light on it) forms Lake Powell, the second largest reservoir in the U.S.
In 1869 John Wesley Powell led the first of two expeditions on the Colorado River in a boat like this one built for a Disney film featuring the journeys.
Tower Butte (left) and Navajo Mountain dominate the landscape near Page.

We finished the day with dinner in the restaurant at the resort. It was our first fine dining opportunity since before lockdown.

Let the adventures begin again? What’s the destination this year? Glad you’re able to start wandering again.
Photos and dialogue great, love some of the sandstone features, but have to say, I’m not sure I’d like living there! Safe travels, seize the day and bon appetit.
Hugs,
Laura. PS thanks for sharing

I know that RV park as that is where the friends that we went on the houseboat went kept their RV that they drove to Arizona before we went on the Lake. Pretty cool that for once I know exactly where you are. Even without COVID the boats rent out early. But cruising the river was great fun and so many little out pockets to dock and swim in. It is hot but beautiful!
