Yesterday we moved the coach from Loa to Tremonton, Utah, a distance of about 270 miles. It was complicated by an ornery entrance step. In order to get the step retracted, Dave had to disconnect the step from the motor and chain the step in place for driving. We put our 4-foot step ladder in the rig and pulled the ladder out whenever we needed to stop–for fuel and for two geocaches. A repair person has been contacted.

One of Dave’s goals is to find a cache in each of Utah’s counties and these caches happened to be both on our route and in counties new to him.

The first cache was near a cemetery in Centerfield. Dave parked the coach while Jane walked a couple of blocks to find the geocache missing! Its container was glued to the underside of a fence cap, but the lid to the container and the cache log were missing–probably deep in the fence post.
The second cache was in Levan and was virtual–Jane had to answer a couple of questions about this school house.

After the long traveling day, we treated ourselves to supper in one of the highest-rated restaurants in Tremonton: The Grille at the bowling alley. The food was great and we were reminded of how much we enjoyed eating at Lee’s Restaurant in Colonial Lanes in Orlando–back in the 1970’s.

Today we got to know Tremonton better as we shopped for groceries (two nice stores here in this town of 9,000) and took a look at art for some geocaches.

Col. Gail Halvorson was known as the Candy Bomber because he dropped handkerchief parachutes with sweets attached to children in East Berlin during the Soviet blockade in 1948-49. A total of 23 tons of treats were delivered this way. Halvorson grew up in nearby Garland, Utah.

Booster rockets for the space shuttle were designed and manufactured in Box Elder County which is home to Tremonton.
Four brothers from nearby Thatcher, Utah were killed within six months of each other during World War II. Their faces grace the Midland Square Veterans Memorial.

Chris told me he was trying to tell you where he was when he was at Aspen Academy. It was just outside of Loa. Britt and I stayed in Loa and went to see some of Bryce National Park while we were there.
