We took scenic highway 38 and stopped at the Elkton Community Education Center. We completed a multi-part geocache that took us by this sculpture.
The property features a reconstruction of Fort Umpqua, a trading post and built by the Hudson’s Bay Company in 1836.
A herd of Roosevelt elk live closer to the coast.
As we drove into Reedsport, we saw some of the pieces created in a chainsaw competition.
When we visited the Oregon coast in 2018, we marveled at bridges designed by Conde McCullough in the 1920’s and 1930’s.
The weather was sunny and warm when we left the RV for our adventure. The coast was gray, windy, and 30 degrees cooler.
