Tree Sculptures

In 2005 Hurricane Katrina destroyed Gulf Coast trees that had stood for generations.  Fort Walton Beach, Florida professional wood sculptor Marlin Miller carved the remains of those trees into animals for a distance of 40 miles.

Biloxi Visitors Center

There are reasons the Biloxi Visitors Center is the highest rated Biloxi attraction on Trip Advisor:    Friendly and helpful staff, beautiful building, two floors of interesting and fun exhibits, and a moving video about the imapct of Hurricane Katrina on the area.  We spent about five hours there.

The Biloxi Lighthouse

The lighthouse in Biloxi was one of the first cast-iron lighthouses in the South.  Its metal plates were made in Baltimore and bolted together in 1848.  The inside was lined with brick.  Tour tickets can be purchased at the Visitors Center; we were the only guests on ours.

The Visitors Center is just behind us.

This view from the lighthouse shows that it is now right in the middle of U.S. Highway 90.
