September 17-24, 2017

This was family week.  Jane’s birthday was September 22 and her sister-in-law Nancy’s birthday was September 17 so there were wonderful celebratory dinners out.  And there was time to have the outside of the coach cleaned, take the cat to the vet, and do some shopping.  We watched the PBS series “The Vietnam War”.  Jon’s stepdaughters Crystal and Nikki joined us for a barbecue lunch.  And we watched Alabama beat Vanderbilt 59-0.  Family.

A family tradition at Jon and Nancy’s is the taking of two family photos:  One traditional and one goofy.  Front row:  Crystal, and Nikki’s stepdaughter Alyissa.  Middle row: Jon, Nikki’s son Colton, Nikki’s daughter Marley, Nikki.  Back row:  Dave, Jane.

The real fun comes when it’s time to review the goofy photos.  Here are Jon, Crystal, Alyissa and Colton.

The campground where we’ve stayed most in Chattanooga is built on the site of a Civil War battlefield.  Streets are named for generals (Union on the north and Confederate on the south), and a short walk into the woods brings one to a marker for the 84th Indiana volunteer infantry.

A divergence from the path back to the campground led past a wild lemon tree.

At the front of the park, we were greeted by a mockingbird.
