October 14-20, 2021

Our drive from Las Vegas, Nevada to Kingman, Arizona was a little over a hundred miles on U.S. 93. We skirted Lake Mead, battled winds, and passed the Mineral Park Mine.

The Mineral Park Mine is an open-pit copper mine northwest of Kingman, Arizona.
We’re not in Washington, Oregon, or Nevada any more. This is Arizona.
We found a geocache near Kingman and turned around to find this vista.

Kingman is on the longest continuous segment of Route 66 and showcases its connection with the historic road in a variety of ways.

Mr. D’z Diner opened as a gas station and cafe in 1939. The current owner developed his own recipe for root beer which was rumored to be quite a hit with Oprah Winfrey.
We found this car in front of the Kingman police station.
Kingman showcases its history in murals.
The Brunswick Hotel was built in 1907 of locally-quarried tufa stone. It was Kingman’s first three-story building and was the tallest building from Albuquerque, New Mexico to San Bernardino, California.
October’s full moon rises behind the RV. On the dashboard are flags of all the U.S. states and Canadian provinces that we (not necessarily the RV) have visited.
