The cat jumped down but here are Dave and Jane enjoying Christmas in their park-for-a-month, Tropic Winds in Harlingen, Texas.

It’s gray and a little chilly (that is, 60 degrees here–compared with 16 degrees in Decatur, Indiana just 10 days and 1500 miles away), but we wanted to send warm wishes and introduce you to the park where we’ll be for the next month.

There are three buildings for meetings, clubs, cards, exercise, and games.

With 600 sites, there is a variety of activities.  Jane’s excited about Friday’s music jam and Dave’s going to try the woodworking shop.

We see lots of signs of the season as we drive through the park.

This unit is across from ours.

Here are some photos from past years reminding us how we got here.

With Elizabeth and Brett in Gainesville last year.

Elizabeth’s first Christmas tree in 1989.

Jane and Dave’s first Christmas tree in 1977.  We thought we wouldn’t have a tree because we were going to be in Chattanooga for the holiday.  Dave’s mom   thought we should have one and donated trimmed branches from her tree to the cause.  Dave arranged them on a curtain rod stuck in a soft drink bottle filled with sand.  The decorations are glittered egg carton cut-outs.

Dave and his sister Susan, about 1957.

Jane and her brother Jon, about 1956.

Merry Christmas!

Looks like a good place to land for a while. I hope there’s a good turnout for the jam!
