Last year we stayed in Lake City an extra day and thoroughly enjoyed visiting state parks in the area. We decided to explore Olustee Battlefield where Florida’s most significant Civil War battle took place. This battle is significant in Brian Smalley’s Civil War musical Chickens Pigs. Improvements are planned for the facility, thankfully, because markers weren’t legible, the video didn’t work, and no staff was present. Comments on a park survey brought a response from the manager with suggested websites for learning more bout the Battlefield.
Sadly, we can’t recommend this state park.
